What’s Happening in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES PARADE
Deck yourself out in something green (T-shirt, sneakers or maybe just face paint) on March 16 and trek over to Union Station at 11:30 a.m. for L.A.'s own Saint Patrick's Day Parade.
The city proclaims the festivities promote community spirit and civic pride among residents - and not consuming large amounts of lager. Let's hope you catch a glimpse of a drunken streaker!
For more information, visit www.lafd.org.

THE SOUTH BAY ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE AND FESTIVAL
Though the parade goes down Saturday, March 17 only, the festival continues through Sunday, March 18. Marching bands, bagpipers, floats and dignitaries rev up at 11 a.m. for the parade at Valley and Pier Avenues in Hermosa Beach. Afterwards, learn the Irish jig or taste Irish Bangers at the international food court.

IRISH IMPORT SHOP
Stop by the shop at 738 Vine Street in L.A. and pick up any and everything Irish. From soap, books and sweaters to the perfect pint glasses, you'll be well prepared for the holiday. Extra interesting is the food - from treacle to trifle! For more information, call (323) 467-6714.

BANG A DRUM - HAND DRUM STORE
Bang an Irish drum. Always wanted to do this? Cruise into Bang a Drum - Hand Drum Store at 1255 South La Brea and play an Irish drum. The shop also sells specialty drums from Africa and India, offers classes and seminars and will host your next party.
For more information, call (323) 936-3274.

YOUNG DUBLINERS @ KEY CLUB
Get into the Celtic spirit with the Young Dubliners at the Key Club on March 16. Dubbed “the bar scene's favorite adopted Irishmen,” this is a shoo-in for good times surrounded by giddy Guinness drinkers.
For more information, visit www.youngdubliners.com.

THE FENIANS @ HOB ANAHEIM
On March 17, don't miss the Fenians at House of Blues Anaheim. This is the last stop on their St. Pat's Tour, and joining them for one night only is their old friend and band mate Tardu Yegin on flute, sax and whistle. This will be their second show of the day; the first is at San Diego's ShamROCK Festival. For more information, visit www.thefenians.com.

“A CELTIC CELEBRATION” @ UCLA
Looking for something a little more soothing? Treat your ears to “A Celtic Celebration” at 7 or 9p.m. at U.C.L.A.'s Schoenberg Hall on March 17. For just 7 bucks, hear UCLA choirs singing Irish tunes (only $3 for students!).
For more information, visit www.uclachoralmusic.com.

ST. PATTY'S DAY PARTY @ UCB THEATRE
Laugh 'til you turn blue - or green - at the St. Patty's Day Party at UCB Theater at 5919 Franklin Avenue in L.A. Brothers Hops and Barley McManus host.
The line-up reads something like this: Tough Irish Priest, Poppy O'Lopez the Puerto Rican Irishman, Tipsy the Half-Shirt Leprechaun, Two Skanks from Boston, Shane McGowen from the Pogues and more.
For more information, call (323) 908-8702 or visit www.ucbtheatre.com.
