@ Glass House
If you havent picked up on it yet, Rooney finds a way to combine many of the best parts of Southern California and infuse them with a pop understanding that recalls the happy-go-lucky spirit of late 60s music without sounding contrived or hokey. Well, not too hokey.
The groups songs are the sort that have you singing along before the second chorus, and stick in your grey matter like peanut butter on a hot day. It is a testament to the strength of this band that it still has a solid following, after its prime shot at stardom came and went. The Glass House is located at 200 W. Second St., Pomona. For more info, visit www.theglasshouse.us.

Witness takes us inside the mind, dreams and memories of Franz Jgersttter, an Austrian Catholic farmer persecuted in Berlin in 1943 by the Nazis for his refusal to serve in the army of the Third Reich.
An explosive and resonant play, it questions our current understanding and acceptance of war, and illustrates the social pressure citizens of every nation feel to support their governments involvement in wars.
Israels foremost playwright, Joshua Sobol, has written more than 40 plays. The Mark Taper Forum is located at 135 North Grand Ave. at Temple St., Los Angeles. For more info visit www.taperahmanson.com.

Kekexili, home to the Tibetan antelope is prized for its skin in making luxurious scarves. In Mountain Patrol, the antelope’s numbers have been dwindling drastically as poachers vastly slaughter the animals. Local Tibetans formed a volunteer patrol to try to stop the illegal poaching - sometimes at the cost of their own lives. The film chronicles the life-and-death struggle between these volunteers and the poachers. Reminiscent of a particularly tough and unsentimental Western in its story of determined men tracking an implacable foe across an unforgiving landscape. The Laemmle Monica 4 Plex is located at 1332 2nd St., Santa Monica. Click here to RSVP to the screening.
